The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) extends its sympathies to all individuals, families, and entities affected by the riots in Haiti over the last week-end. As individuals, we are all saddened by the loss of life and property and extend our support to all the parties affected by the recent unfortunate events. As a Chamber of Commerce, we are very concerned about the impact of the property damage on Haiti’s economy. Haiti has had to rebuild several times in recent years following a major earthquake and hurricane. It is incumbent upon all sectors of the country to acknowledge that the cost of rebuilding is shared by the entire population and that the image of riots and destruction both on the national and international stage discourages job-creating investment that Haiti sorely needs.
HACCOF is dedicated to its mission of promoting partnerships and alliances within communities throughout Florida and Haiti to build healthy business climates, foster investment, create employment, and encourage public and private sector collaboration. HACCOF supports all efforts that would foster dialogue between the various constituencies (government, business leaders, political parties, community organizations and leaders) to resolve the current crisis for the improvement of both the quality of life and business climate in Haiti.
The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida was established in 2005. Its mission is to serve as an advocate for its communities as well as a resource for consumers and businesses dedicated to serving both the needs of its members and the economic development needs of the broader Haitian American Community. The Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce also promotes investment and trade with the Haitian private and public sectors.
